The University of Birmingham, founded in 1900, is a well-established world-class university and one of the leading research-based universities in the UK. The Metal Forming Research Group at the University of Birmingham has been established for over 30 years, initially focussing on forging. It has an international reputation for advanced research and a large number of research projects have been carried out with UK industry, UK government, overseas industry and government and European funding. The research activities within the Group varies from new forming process development, microstructural control and process optimisation to precision forming and micro-forming.
